Only if it has been ‘tripped’ or looks in poor condition.
From memory they aren’t expensive - £10 ish? Might have gone up in the last couple of years though :-[

I have always replaced them with the pads when doing my discovery 3 and will do likewise with the X5. Small cost in the scheme of things compared to scores discs if the warning fails.
