Evening all
Hope in right place.
Bought daughter a Mini clubman 2010 for her 21st birthday in few weeks,  hiding it at moment and going through it.
Came from a one owner with full history, however, checking tyres today and missed when i inspected before buying, althogh all good tread tyres i missed the obvious
3 tyres are Pirelli run flats,  but found on the front axel a standard tyre. Never had run flats so only now know they are marked run flat  etc etc
Done some web search and seem to find its not a good idea but mixed opinion if its actually legal.
Im going to get a run flat on asap.
have spoke to owner who said took and told garage to MOT it last Feb and put a tyre on,  the owner said they didnt know it was not a run flat and maybe the garage got muddled. !!!!!    i dont know if they lying or not  but would have expected the garage to know and not fit a run flat and non run flat on same axel.

Other question.  The tyres are a mix,
i have Pirelli P ZERO on the drivers side front and rear,  but a Pirelli Centuro P7 run flat on the rear axle passenger side and this chinese tart on the front.
should i have a  PZERO and P7 on same car and same axle , or should i replace the cheepo with another P7 and match them on the rear or front axel and the PZERO on other axel.  Or should i replace the cheepo and P7 with Pzero  so i have them all round
getting myself mixed up as well

Legally:

The law says; “That tyres have to be the same nominal size and aspect ratio(profile) on a given axle.”

Mixing types is not an ideal situation, but not illegal.

I have had P7 and P0 tyres and the 7s lasted longer, but the P0 gave more grip in the dry - probably a softer tyre?

Thanks ,  knew i would get right advice on here.

So would it be best to replace the cheepo with a P7 then  i have two  P7 and  two P0,  i presume this is a safe set up , but are there preference as to which ones at front or rear.  ideal woud be all same tyre but too much good tread at moment on all the 3 run flats.

Not making this a Mini forum chaps but was worried when saw this Cheap non run flat type on with the rest.

Mini being front wheel drive should have the best tyres on that end.

Technically a Mini is a kind of BMW (but don’t tell the purists on here  O:-) )
