Brake Pipe - Underbody Plastic Cover Removal

Eh Up all,

Car passed its MOT this weekend - not even an advisory.

However when i nipped under the ramp i noticed the brake lines and the fact you cannot see them under the plastic cover. I remember Sleepfolk doing some major work last year on his.

Does anyone know how these covers come off - it looks like they are traditional screw type fixings rather than plastic , Its a shame because i am betting they are a sod to get off.

I want to get the cover off and before i start wondered if anyone had done this, if so how and what to buy fixings wise in advance.

Cheers for all the help.

Some can be...give them a good spray of WD...wire brush, make sure you get the socket on nice and snug...think they are 6mm or 8mm ???

Cheers for that, looks like some are plastic plug / rivet type fixings which will be a bu**&er no doubt!

Cheers looked on it but not too helpful in my case but good reference point I will use again

Looks l8ke I can sneak of the main cover without removing the inner wheel arch covers and outer cill cover  too, just peel it up ( easier said than done I bet - bit like the old Haynes manual terms “ ease off” and “ refit is reversal of removal”

The plastic rivet type are not to bad just ease out the rivet with a small screwdriver and thin nosed pliers then ease out the base the same...the rivet heads do sustain slight damage but do refit....a spray of WD does help things....

Cheers - if they are the expanding plastic pop rivet type with the push in centres,  should be able to manage these.

Got used to these on other bumper/trim fixings so will use my pry tools.

Fingers crossed the lines will be ok

thanks again for the help.
