Just had it bong at me and inform me that I had 31 miles left. Didn’t know it done that. The low level light was on but still a good second reminder. As a secondary measure it lets you know that your suction pump is working properly. Quite impressed.

Why did BMW set 31 miles.... why not simply 30, or 40.... why 31 ??

31miles = 50km UK and USA AFAIK are the only countries that still use miles.
Taking miles from the English would be like taking guns from the yanks, political suicide.

They (the system/establishment) have managed to take all the other measurements though. I still have a better picture in my head of 8/10/12 inches than the equivalent mm/cm. Age I suppose?

Me too.  None of your metric muck!  Tother half thinks a yard is an American garden!
