Looking for an E70 X5.

Hi all,
hope you are well, after selling my E53 X5 2 yrs ago, i want another X5. I have between 10k and 11k, depending on what my 325i coupe sells for or if i need to px it.

Looking around, there are a few 3.0SD around, on 58/59 regs, but how do i know what packages they have as the write ups rarely tell you, also some of the cars are showing the 8 button idrive but they are not the LCI models, and i thought the 8 button only came on the facelift LCI?!?

I know it might take me a while, and would love an LCI model but i dont think my money will stretch that far unfortunately.

I'd like :
3.0SD but would settle for a decent 3.0D if the mileage, spec and condition is good.
M sport
black (with black roof rails and black window trim)
20" wheels
heated seats
wide satnav
would rather 5 seats instead of 7 as dont need them, and they take up the underfloor boot storage i believe.
and whatever kit they come with, there are loads around but either beige interior or chrome trim, lol.

Thanks

Jamee.

If you want LCI  then you would be looking for a 35d rather than an sd ( same engine ) Id think and the 8 speed box .

The spec you mention is pretty much mine, black, 5 seater m sport, sd with heated seats reverse cam, adaptive xenons and 20 " wheels and beige seats which are actually nice ( I was looking for black at first ) and chrome/satin trim round the windows with bamboo wood inside  :) I think they all have wide satnav though many inc mine are broke ( needs new dvd drive which is a very common fail ) :(  The satvav's are dated now anyway and not 7 digit postcode .

I think the 35d is pre LCI as the 4.0d replaced it.

As Horizon says, the 8 button iDrive came in a little bit before the facelift. If you went to look at a car you could use one of the online VIN checker websites to find out about the packages - but I appreciate you won't be able to do that remotely.

If I remember correctly LCI came out late summer 2010 so you would need 60 Reg onwards.
LCI has more power 8 speed gearbox and bumpers and tail lights are slightly different from pre-LCI. Daytime driving lights are LED therefore same colour as xenon headlights (white)

Also LCI will have “xDrive” in the model name so you need xDrive 4.0 which is bi-turbo 3 litre diesel

Thanks guys, just need to keep looking, im sure the one will present itself soon enough, just a shame i can't stretch too an LCI model, need another 1k-1.5k, but unfortunately haven't got it.

Im just amazed on the price difference of some garages tbh, some of the prices are 2k different, i've seen 57 reg cars go for 9500-10k, when you can get the same car/spec on an 09 reg car, crazy.

This car by me was for sale for 11495 (still is on gumtree), but they have now put the 22" wheels on and upped it too 12495!! unbelievable mark up just because they put a set of wheels on.

I am liking this one, but it hasnt got the black trim outside, missed out on 1 last week as was too slow, it was perfect.

Just remember the bigger the wheel the thinner the tyre and, without wanting to re-open the debate about runflat tyres ( BMW do recommend * rated runflats)  you'll find 21 and 22" wheels give a much harsher ride than 19 or 20" ones - and the sport suspension is very firm in any case. You would, literally, feel every matchstick you run over!!!

Yeah, my last x5 had the 20" wheels towards the end of ownership, matched with the sport suspension it was harsh, but my other bms and coupes have all been like it. I like the harsh ride to be honest, it's not to bad, but I wouldn't want 21 or 22" wheels, it would be too much I think.
Whatever x5 I get will have the runflats taken off straight away, hate how they make the car feel, spoils the driving I think.

I've 21 inch runflats on at the moment while my 20's with standard tyres are getting refurbed and the ride is actually ok and I expected it to be rubbish so I wouldn't say they are as bad as they used to be and I've m sport suspension too.

I see a lot of used cars from dealers like the above one and the wheels are extra  :)) its priced up due to the lowish miles but if its for sale a while its too expensive ,I see very high mileage (170k) 07 cars more expensive than 09 x5's locally and remember an 07 has the silly tax on it ..Just dreamers ,reality will bite sooner or later !!!!!!!! prices for 09's went from 10k to 13.8k when I was looking recently and many of the same cars were for sale for months on end.

I got fed up looking at the same cars for sale on autotrader  etc and found mine by a stroke of luck, I googled' bmw x5 3.0d se Suffolk ' and a pistonheads advert came up, but if you searched the pistonheads classifieds it wasn't on there! when I went to look at it the guy said he hasn't had any calls for it and was a bit surprised as it has an awsome spec with full bmws, so I can thank pistonheads for cocking up his advert :P

Hi, i'm still looking, now sold my 325, so have around 10600 cash, but just cant find one that i want, and that has the spec i want.

This one is nice, all the toys, comfort seats, panroof, black trim etc, just undecided as there are ones out there with less spec but 59 reg with updated idrive

This one looks nice, but expensive for an 08 reg.

Did you get one yet, as I am now looking for a similar vehicle and going through the same process of trawling ebay and autotrader with nothing jumping out. The list of options seems vast and not really sure which ones would mean the most to me.

Think he has looking at his icon thing.

What’s your budget? Could it stretch to 14.5k for a 2010 40d Sport with 360bhp and a good spec?
