I have just purchased a BMW scanner 1.4.0.
I have an X5 E53 2006 facelift.
The scanner logs on to the car (after 2 weeks of persistance getting it going under windows 7) but hardly any of the "coding" functions work.
Most of them are greyed out.
For instance, I wanted to try and activate Aux. Heating instead of Aux. ventillation but when I get to that module the coding button is greyed out.
I want to tun OFF TV in motion but when I get to that module that coding button is greyed out too.
In fact I think there are only 2 modules I can access for coding.
Anyone know whats wrong?
If I bridge pins 7 % 8 or whichever, will that help?
I only bought it because I want to do these things
I already have INPA and it is Bl**dy useless...all in German and need an open university course to learn it.

Not 100% sure but i think your car is too new.
I had it working on my 04 e46 but won't work on my 07 e90.

OMG....I hope not.....these scanners are a minefield.

Whats all this about dimantling it and shorting out pins 7 and 8?????
What does this do, and if it needs doing, why hasn't it already been done???

It's down to the can-bus system it changed around 04/05 i think it was.
Don't know anything about shorting the pin's sorry.
