Thinking about getting a light smoke colour for the fronts to blend them in slightly with the rear privacy glass, any thoughts or recommendations on good tinters in West London?

Also what is the legal criteria?

Law states do what you want but you must have 70% VTL, (visible transmitted light), which equates to no more than 30% tint - to front & front sides.......ie all glass fwd of drivers side centre door pillar. These precentages include existing factory tint so even a very light smoke can take you over legal limit. A thin security film might stay inside the law.

Some feel the law is unfair as high quality tints can still allow acceptable & safe outward visbility.

If you fit or have illegal tints, (even if fitted before the law changed), you can be forced to remove them & be fined. Whilst some are happy to take a chance, some can do without hassle of being stopped. Personal choice I guess.........Not preaching or supporting the rules- merely answering the query & clarifying as requested.

I have light factory tint but have abstained from aftermarket tinting because harsh contrast front/rear look is not apealing to me. I can also do without hassle of getting stopped for illegal front sides when trying to travel from A to B.

South Coast tints site has all the legal info. Link to video here

Penatgon are good but not cheap.

Or you could PM Jeegnesh? He's local to you and a tight git, so he got a good price. Think about the dark interior you already have. If you have the s/roof, makes it lighter inside but stay as light as you can bear with the rears next to them. Keeps you off the radar a bit more...

Maybe Jiggy wanted the tints really dark so no one could identify him? After all it's a travesty to have a black car that you DON'T WASH!! That's of course if Sanj isn't driving Miss Daisy!

Rumour has it, Jeeg doesn't need tinted windows as there is that much dirt on them you can't see through them anyway.
Lol :-p

As above on most vehicles the factory tint is about the legal limit. I've got 50% on my fronts to just bring it closer to the rears and it is fine in terms of visual darkness although still illegal. Even on dark interiors 50 % is generally still ok as you can still see in fairly clearly.

As for where? Try Phil at SCR in ashford so not too far and tell him Raj with the X5 sent you.
