I am in the mods mood,
With a lot of help from Greydog have ordered all the parts to fit an electric engine cooling fan.
Now thinking if it possible to retrofit soft boot lid closing ? ( I have fitted springs around the boot lid struts to enable remote bootlid opening when pressing the bootlid lock/unlock on key fob.
Have just also purchased new NGK 1496 laserline Spark plugs x 8 at £16 each (Special lpg plugs ) cheapest NGK plugs I could find.
Hope they will give some improvement to performance and economy (last time I changed the plugs took me 12 hours cos of the extra lpg pipe work and bits I had to remove to access the other parts to enable the removal of the covers etc.) There are other ,cheaper Iridium plus at about £5 each, but did not fancy having to do another plug change if there was a problem with cheaper Iridium plugs.

Morning Lez
You really are in mod mode
I guess you will need to source a tailgate set from an E70 (think they had soft close on later models) then just a question of mounting the parts as power is already there.
Interesting project

Talking of mods… Ive just come back from Carfest south and the sound of all those V8’s tearing around Jody Schekters track has got me in the mood for something.
Not long ago I nearly bought a 4.6 from a guy in London. I didn’t get a chance to see the car but had a long chat over the blower. He had removed the centre exhaust resonator and put in two straight pipes - no x pipe or anything. He said that it sounded really good , better than standard but not too loud.
If anyone bought that car or has done that mod to the exhaust then speak up. If I can find someone local ish ( Cambridge) I may get it done.

When my 4.6 engine was being rebuilt I added a Dinan Cam and Throttle body the exhaust was left standard it returned 360+ whp on the rolling road so around 400+ at the flex plate. The guy who rebuilt the engine is a Porsche/BMW specialist and I talked to him about H pipe or X pipe exhaust mods he reckoned that it would change the sound but I wouldn't gain much in power.
Think I enjoy the power more than the noise, that was 65k ago now so it is properly run in I will need to think about a TC change at some point it is getting a little noisy but still delivers so the old "if it aint broke don't fix it" adage is being applied.

It's the noise I'm interested in.. My daughter said it 'growled' as I put my foot down going past her in a field a few weeks ago but I can't tell when driving it.

I've got an Eisenman road exhaust fitted on mine, was on ebay and my wife bought it as a surprise present £750 ( over 2K new)! Makes a lovely sound.
