Eh up all

Not been on in a while as the X5 has been running great (Kiss of death now ... )

Anyway got a now battery S5 013 Bosch S5 013 100AH 830A, fitted Sunday no issues apart from I’m not sure on one point.

Fitted loads of batteries but I’m bu883rd if I can remember whether I need to vent both breather holes in the battery or just the one attached to the breather pipe which ducts to the boot floor ..??? :headbang:

I’ve fitted and pulled out both vent plugs, one to the actual breather the other I’ve just left unplugged- now I’m thinking about it and not sure that’s right. :x

The battery instruction says to remove both plugs but I’m not convinced :tumbleweed:

Rather than overthinking this - over to you for advice please

As usual all help appreciated

Just vent the one leave a bung/plug in the other.

Eh up

Thanks for that - why though ?

It makes sense to me to just have the one breather rather than that other one an open vent that could simply ooze acid out !,,, :

I’ve no idea why they recommend both vents open on the battery :?

No idea on the construction of this battery assuming if I simply vent one side it covers the battery in total as opposed to it being two separate compartments needing both venting

Why is nothing simple these days

Cheers all for any feedback as usual

The breather holes are on each end of the battery because on some fitments the breather pipes aren’t long enough to be able to fit to either end. so which ever end you can use then the other end can be bunged.

Eh up long time no hear

Took the leap of faith and plugged one end up the other week and ignored the instructions :D

Starts every time now - was worried about a parasitic drain somewhere but touch wood just the battery

Next on the list is a possible front end suspension rebuild- oh the joy

Cheers all

I did the suspension some time ago and fitted poly bushes and now find that the ball joints are failing first. Need a new wishbone but the dilemma is do I knock out a perfectly good bush to fit the poly bushes or run the new ones for for a few years.
