If it is the black gunge in the tank the motor will be ok the filter on it will be clogged and need a clean.
Best thing to do is take the tank off and give it a really good clean out or it will clog again soon.

I always found the Lidl windscreen stuff used at 50% dilute good and cheap as well, no problems with gunging up.

After my recent costly experience I'll stick with BMW fluid in the bottle. I have about 3ltrs left for now. It increases the argument factor in my favour, should the blockage ever happen again.

Got the washer pumps out this morn and all 3 filters cleaned. You need to pull the side skirt out to get to the bolts in the bottom of the wing which we're very rusty and one c clip broke which left it nut spinning round unable to undo :headbang: I got it held with my third hand and a screwdriver to trap it in the end. The little plastic wing tab for it has come off but no big deal for now. The liner only needs 3 m8 bolts and a plastic m10 nut and it will come back enough to access after you take 4 torx bolts of on the door post and a star screw out under the windsceen trim. I loosened all the wing top bolts but not sure you need to apart from 1 under the screen. The rear screws for sideskirt would not undo heads rotted off but opening the 2 doors and pulling it away at the front after depressing 2 tabs in the wing gave enough room. The sideskirt has a bolt underneath the sill you could miss too.
The filters were very slimmed up but.cleaned up fine. I replaced the pump but suspect the original was OK but don't want to be in again. Gave the tank a good flush and a lot of green sh*t came out
I used plastic push in centre pin type clips to secure the arch back on much easier to work. One torx will not go in the door post as the captive clip must have moved but no big deal .The wing has a foam seal to the post which can come out of place too.

Of course it rained halfway through the 2 hour job :headbang: Top is the headlamp wash which still worked the screen pump was much worse. You can see the 2 front tabs in the side skirt in the lower pic.
After I tested it I found the passenger jet or pipe is cracked and water is pouring out of it a job for some other day  car needs a wash its absolutely bogging now :D
