Did you recondition the injector or buy new?
I bought new it was £392.30 plus vat for testing all injectors and 1 new injector

Probably a naive question but did they remove all six to test? Just wondered if there is a method of testing in situ.

I'm perfectly happy for all six to come out, but in a 2006 car I guess some or all will be brittle to say the least!

Hi yeah I had all 6 removed by garage then sent to atkins to be tested

The Injectors wont be brittle...theyre made like tanks :D

Just a brief update on this. I've been away so the car was in my garage at home for some time.

Last week all six fuel injectors were removed, surprisingly they came out very easily considering they've been untouched since 2006. I followed Lobster Pot's advice and sent them for testing to the same company he used. 4 failed and 2 are fine. Replacement Bosch injectors will be fitted next week so will update.

Thanks Marti, glow plugs being replaced at the same time. just hope there are no further problems caused by the faulty injectors....possibly compression issues?

Might be worth replacing the glowplug controller as well. It isn’t unknown for failed plugs to cause the unit to pack up shortly after the plugs have been replaced.

What a transformation! four new injectors, a few gaskets here and there, new glow plugs and my X3 sounds like a very quiet petrol engine.
MPG has increased to around 38 - 42ish. Thanks to everyone for the help and advice. X5Sport - they also changed the glow plug controller.

One small job I forgot is the third brake light above the rear window. It appears water may have got in and blown something. I had no idea its an MOT failure. I already have the light strip, just need someone to fit it.
