Hi

Hi.

Been lurking around the site for a few months now so I thought I should actually get round to registering. :D

Got the X5 back in Feb after borrowing my nieces X5 and thinking 'I want one of these'. I was originally going to buy hers but she decided to keep it so we found another one. Ours is 2005 55 plate 3.0D Sport in Sterling Grey with 61k and full BMWSH. No comms or sat nav but has a factory towbar for towing our caravan which it does with great ease. Never owned a 4x4 before and we're loving the X5 experience, it's like driving around in your living room. :D :D We've also kitted it out with a custom made cage for our 3 dogs in the back. We (SWMBO & me) compete at dog agility most weekends during the summer (thats what the caravan is for) and having a decent towcar makes life that little bit easier. Also less chance of getting stuck on a muddy field like we did TWICE last year when we had a 2 wheel drive A6 Avant. Had to get towed off with a tractor towing the car & caravan.

Drivers door handle went a couple of weeks ago, but thanks to the 'how to' even I managed to sort it, so thanks for that.

My other car is an 02 plate Octavia vRS which I've owned from new. It only does 4-5k a year as I can walk to work these days so it mainly just sits in the garage all week and comes out to play at weekend. I've had it re-mapped plus a couple of other minor mods to improve the handling, so it's quite nippy. It's a completely different drive from the X5 so I've got the best of both worlds.

Might make a meet one day if there's ever one in the North west.

Cheers

Hello and welcome :D

I had three of the original Mk1 Octavia Estates - albeit diesels - and loved them. The last one was an L&K and was one of only two in the UK with Satnav (Dealer and I had a play with the config tool and found loads of options not on the official UK list. Skoda duly fitted them :D ). Cheap Audi really as I used to say to my A3 owning brother.. :poke:
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
