Hi,
I've just sold my 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera & fancy a Lorus Esprit V8 next
Our daily driver is a December 55 reg X5 Le-Mans Edition, 3.0d auto with 20" wheels, comms, heated seats, pano sunroof etc.
45k miles & in supreb condition, what could I expect to get for it privately ?
Just toying with the idea of selling it to finance a newer Esprit & then get a 3 or 5 series touring as our daily runner ?

If it's of ny use I was offered £14k part ex for my '05 plate E53 with 45k on it in September last year. The Dealer told me that the current depreciation at that time was circa £600 pcm. I would have expected to get around £17k privately if we hadn't decided to keep it. Ours is also fully loaded spec wise and I think I paid something over £53k at new in March 2005.

£600 pcm depreciation seems a bit steep !! Thats £ 7200 in a year, maybe a new car but I think by 5 years old it would be down to less than half that.
I thought mine may be worth £14K - £15k looking at prices on the ones for sale at the moment but you don't know if they're selling for that.
It was just an idea but when I mentioned it to the Wife it didn't go down too well.
I wouldn't care but she didn't want an X5 when I bought it, now I can't get a look in.
She also reminded me it's registered in her name

Well well, another convert. Funny but when I wanted to sell the X5 to fund the X6 I got a very clear 'steer' that I would not be particularly popular if I got rid of the X5!! Never mind the fact it took me two years to get permission to buy the X6 anyway. Now she loves the X6 after all. I give up. Female logic h??

@Rustynail your a harbour shark!!

@Sanj I was just window shopping at the local BMW dealer for a 5 series and that was the px price. I know mines worth more so i'd rather keep it. At least I know I've looked after it. It was more a fuel consumption thing really, what we me having practically an hour each way commute now to get to work.

Get a cheap runabout as well in addition? We have already put over 20k on the Polo now, I did the servicing and it has devalued by about £500 or so in just under 2 years

I know what you mean PVR but money is tied up at moment in Finance agreement for the X5 so at present no go. Was trying to tell husband that it would make sense to get him to sell his and use mine as the family Chav Wagon and get a small runaround but he wont play ball!!!! I will jog along unless something wonderful comes up as not sure its cost efective to dob it in just yet and above all I still love it

I was going to say LPG it but noticed you're running a diesel, aren't you getting a good mpg on the x5?

Mmm bout 24.7 at moment but better than petrol model

Just went to Oxford and got 41 there and back ...

I rest my case old boy...

PVR it must mean that I actually turn the key and drive mine you must have pushed it to Oxford !!
