I posted a thread a few weeks ago re powering an xbox from my X5, but im still not sure.

Has anyone done this their X5?

As the power supply unit for an xbox 360 gives out 12volts I was hoping I could ditch this and wire it direct?? So I dont have to go dwn the inverter route

Any advice would be appreciated

Don't think anyone has done it - try it. Put a fuse in-line and use a multi-meter to see what out you get.

Alternatively see if a car adaptor is out there?

That's what I did for the PS2 install.

Ok i'll give it a go, just worried abt damaging the xbox!

As far as the adapter is concerned, I cant find a 12v adapter, i think the ps2 is 5 volts

Use a volt/multi-meter - make sure what you get out of the mains is similar to what you get when you cut the plug off!

A fuse in-line with the power, when you put it in the car will help prevent damage to the PS3.

Finally, I think I have found what i'm looking for!!!!

The Xbox 360 PSU 203W 203W/12V = 17A

What do you think?

All I need now is a switch live in the boot that comes on with the ignition that can take an additional 17A, any ideas?

Ignore that, see it was 20A, got all excited and didnt look at the power or current output!
