40 pin quadlock connection

Post by mas123 » Sun Aug 07, 2011 3:02 pm

Hi,

I have a 2003 X5 with MID radio and a cassette player. Does my car have a 40 pin quadlock connection?

Probably, but you'll need to either know the part number of the radio or just take it out and have a look to be sure.

I took out the radio display, but where is the 40 pin quadlock plugged in?

Could be in the boot by the battery.
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

There are a few plugs around the battery area, but how do I know which one it is.

Hi,

Thanks for the picture illustration. I don't have that in my boot does that mean the wires going to my cassette player in the front are ones?

Hi,

I followed the wires in the front and there is a plug going to my cassette player. It has two blue strips and four round holes. Is that it?

Follow those two down into the dash it should be where the leads from the head unit and cassette meet

The quadlock connector plugs directly into the radio, left hand side looking from the front. The radio is located above the MID/IRIS for split systems, or in the boot for Nav systems.

I found it, it was plugged into the cassette player. Does anyone know the wire connections?

40 pin quadlock on the face of the plug:
There is a 12 pin white plug going to it - is that the steering controls?
There is a black plug 12 pin- ?

There is a block of 16 pins which are the speaker wires (8), power supply and remote, but not sure what the other 6 wires are for.

Thanks.
