Rear Wiper

My rear wiper arm's looking a bit old and flakey so I was thinking of replacing it with one of these:

Has anyone tried one? They look totally straight whereas the OEM one has a slight dog-leg so I'm wondering whether it'll provide the same coverage?

No idea, but I did not think any X5 ever had the silver style they claim in the link above ...

That's exactly the same one I now have on mine, but use these guys and save a few quid - no complaints from mine either:

Does that clear the rear screen well?
My current one is barely making contact withthe screen for some reason, so I'll buy this if it's a decent product!

Yes, cleans well, slightly smaller but still does well. No chatter on mine.

If your rear wiper is not making good contact with the rear screen try a bit of easing oil on the pivot point an inch or two away from the 'drive end' of the wiper arm. Worked well for me and a few others.

Also worth gently reshaping the blade if metal holding the rubber is bent & redsulting in poor contact.
Has anyone found a decent blade standard spec blade only replacement for E53 rear wiper (last time I checked BMW only sold complete blade with entire new arm) ?

I had problems with cleaning the top 3 or 4 inches of my rear screen. The blade just seemed to skim over the surface. Into the stealer and bought the OE item and no more problems. From memory it was about £15 so expensive but worth it.
Had exactly the same on my old Disco and that was also sorted by the OE Land Rover wiper.
Much as I hate buying and paying through the nose at a stealer it sometimes makes good sense.

Thanks
Is it simple to change ?
Any issues with adjusting angle on galss when resting ?
I assume it just unbolts from base of arm under trim cover.

Yep, just unbolt and pull off carefully.

I've just fitted aero blades to mine and have to say I'm more than impressed, £10.45 for all 3 from eBay!
