Passenger door nightmare!!!

Just discovered your forum today and think it looks fantastic!

Wondering can anyone help me -

the X5's passenger door won't open from the inside or outside, from the key, remote or centre console button.

Originally it wouldn't lock so its my own fault for not sorting it out in the 1st place. So my problem is its now deadlocked shut! - Great! Ive spent 1/2 the day trying to remove the door card without damaging it - a real pain when the door's closed - but for future reference it is possible. Ive took away the passenger airbag and got access to the actuator.

The problem is after a lot of internet trawling that the electronic door lock actuators appear to be common to failing and i'm assuming its this electronic actuator that has failed. However mine has failed with the door in the shut position - and you need to have the door open to remove it!

Has anybody had this problem....i'm hoping its not as drastic as im beginning to think (crowbar) - any advice would be greatly received.

Garysss

As long as you can get your window down and you follow the pictures you should be okay ;)

Thanks Powercat - had looked at this and alas no good - due to it being the electronic actuator no amount of poking any of the mechanism would free it.

Have took it to my independant specialist today - they spoke to BMW and there is no way of opening it without breaking the actuator out off the inside of the door - so thats what they've done.

The doors now open! Now it won't stay shut until i get a new actuator on Monday. About £100 for the electronic actuator.

Hopefully that should solve it!

These can be a bit of a pain to do some time, the actuator fails inside the lock mech part
