Can anyone please guide me as to the location of the air mass sensor on the 3.0d facelift - plus any tips on removal/cleaning

item 1 in photo. looking at engine from front of car: front top left of engine under the front plastic engine cover. right in front of the air filter housing.
fairly easy removal but be careful not to damage the wire element inside. there about £150 new.
if you take item 4 off first, be sure the bottom end fits back onto the turbo correctly afterwards!! :)

Thanks for the replies all - does the sensor foul up and if so, can it be cleaned ?

Don't know the definitive answer as i only took mine off to get to other parts (didn't have a problem with it) but mine was a little gruby so i cleaned it up just with a rag.
Sorry i can't help more but i'm sure someone on here will be able to give you a firm answer.
