Quick question about a telephone part...

Hi,

This is my first post so please don't shout at me too loudly... :)

I have been looking for a replacement wiring adapter thing for my 2002 X5 - it has the Siemens BIT-II telephone installed but I managed to damage the adapter cable that fits between the main box and the rest of the X5's wiring. I've been looking for a picture and I've finally found one which shows what I'm looking for - it's Item 10 on the piccie.

I wondered if anyone had one that they could sell or even point me towards where I might be able to get one. Thanks for a great forum...!

Where is item 10 installed - as in where in the car?

Have you got a part number on it by any chance?

One option is get the last 7 characters of your VIN (2 two letters and 5 numbers) then to go to Realoem.com and put that number into the 'Serial Number' box here:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do RealOEM is a copy of the BMW parts database and is used by almost all of us.

Tip - When the list comes up, click the 'Switch to Images Drill down' as it's easier to use.

That should bring up your car. If not go by the build date on the label under the bonnet on the left side - says Build Month I think.

See if you can work out which cable it is, unless you have the part number on a label.

Is it the wiring or connector that is damaged? Can you solder the wires back together and cover the join with a bit of heatshrink sleeving etc?

Finally - welcome. We don't shout at people here. :D

And of course, put an entry in the Newbies Section (and don't forget the piccies or Sanj will be after you :poke: )
