Pass. I had the official 3.5mm adapter system in the glovebox. That worked via Aux. No control of the idevice possible though.

Select Television and AUX is the last channel.

Let us know if it works. Usually the Apple products are too low a signal to work.

Unless the video from the iPhone will work... if you play videos. Otherwise audio will just be that, a blank screen.

Get an Intravee and be done with it! :P

If you want full control of the idevice then as Sanj says you will need an external solution. The only limited support BMW provided when I bought mine was a cable that plugged into the Aux port on the back of the Nav head and allowed connection via the iPod headphone socket into a 3.5mm stereo jack socket in the glovebox. I think that cable is still available. I have a copy of the BMW fitting instructions in PDF format but will need an email address to send them to you as we can't attach said documents (Mods - that's a hint :poke: )

BMW did not provide an integrated OEM solution until much later models appeared and the right options were in the car. I had an Ice>Link plus in my E53 which when it worked was great, but it meant I lost use of the CD multichanger. When it wasn't working nicely then it was a mare to get it working nicely again and product support was awful being based in Eastern Europe.

There is a US based DICE option but I have no experience of their products with the E53. Support is however supposed to be much better.

Support of the Intravee is exemplary - it's British!

And then you get all the extras too. No messing, it does everything you expect (all on the screen and through the steering wheel controls too).

You should know better than to ask what you need btw! You've been on this forum long enough! Search button you tart!

An Intravee and the Apline KCA-420i (with both cables) is all you need. From new they will NOT have the Extras firmware, you'll need a friendly forum member...
