Window master control not working

As title.

This morning all was well - I know this as I electronically folded the door mirrors open vua the button in the above titled unit.

Left work this afternoon and nothing works.

Green light ( parental lock) is permanantly ON.

All windows work when key fob held down so all regulators fine.

So far I have............( after spending slightly annoying hour looking for small screwdriver & Peake Code reader).

(i) Checked all connections.
(ii) Lightly applied WD40 to ensure no dry connections.
(iii) Used hot air in attempt to dry - in case damp in there as drivers window was down for a few mins in light shower yesterday.
(iv) Scanned using Peake ( a long shot I know).
(v) Checked all fuses using electric fuse tester.

Quite annoying as car occasionally seems to like punishing me (despite financial & time investment trying to keep all well.

In summary lots of messing around & still no further ahead :x

Thoughts appreciated.

Is it worth trying the 'disconnect the battery' tricks to see if that will reset it?

Hmm......I was hoping nobody suggested that ;)

I considered disconnnecting last night but ran out of time & motivation.

P.I.T.A. as I have the rubber floor liner and the fabric bootliner.

If only it had a battery isolation/reset switch !

Busy few days so don't know when I will find hassle free time to tinker.

Thanks for the reply

The other window controls working ok on the doors, so only drivers window control unit affected?

I know you have a fairly new battery, but for some reason those Bosch units seem to have a high failure rate. Having said that, I would have assumed other electrical gremlins if that was the case though.

Yes that is correct.

Power fine as car starts okay on the key and clock has not reset so no indication of power failure.

I also have a confession to make........

As indicated part of my attempt(s) to resolve this involved me physically removing the master control unit from the drivers door, then using hairdryer on same to make sure no moisture inside same causing a short/connection issue.

When using hairdryer on unit I placed same on new landing carpet, after doing so I noticed a small, ( £1 coins sized), mark on carpet from slight melting  . I suspect this was caused by heat from hairdyrer. I decided to attempt to minimise the cosmetic damage, got a cartridge type shaving razor & used same to carefuly trim top of damaged carpet pile. Razor last seen by, (5 month old), puppy crate but razor cartridge cannot be found. Vet advised to carefully monitor & only to x-ray if puppy displays any symptoms of unwellness. No evidence dog has swallowed albeit missing blade is of concern. :headbang:

Not told the wife yet :sos:

Paspport, clean underwear, toothbrush and credit cards should do it.

Ok so it's late now and he's probably lying in a gutter somewhere, but if he is alive... Disconnect the battery and reset it. Should come back to life. If not £40 and eBay should resolve a switch acquisition.

But I think it should be a simple reset.

At this time me & puppy still okay :)

I performed a battery reset yesterday but without success.

Ideally I could briefly swap the unit with one form another car, just to make sure it's the unit at fault.

Was tempted to pull mine apart but visions of springs & clips popping out and flying around.

Glad pup ok, you I couldn't care less about!

Know Jeegnesh's number? He is selling black leather interior and as if luck would have it, all the door cards which have all the switches! Sure for test purposes he won't mind u borrowing it???

You never know he may be willing to split it from the sale and sell it if required.

Or you can have a winter and summer interior too.... :poke:

Glad the puppy is OK too.. what 'sort' is he/she?

Definitely not a good idea to disassemble the switch unit given the proximity of a 'curious' mouth.. :o
