Hi guys, Im new to the forum although I have read through a lot of threads in the last few weeks.
I have twins on the way so managed to talk my wife into getting an X5 and we will be either trading in or PX our 2010 Fiesta 1.4 TDCI Zetec. I have seen one Im interested in (link below) and just wondering if its a good deal, I like the idea of it having the years warranty as Im worried buying privately.
I dont have anymore info on this X5 as Im currently in Afghanistan working and not home for another 4 weeks so I am planning on taking it a test drive when Im home if its still for sale. Just looking for opinions of spec, mileage price etc.

Hi
Welcome. Personally I would buy from BMW as I'm no mechanic just a professional moaner and my approved used warranty was worth it's weight in gold.
The price seems about right'ish but there is always room for improvement! Show just enough interest and then back off and I'm sure if it's the one you want it will close the deal.
I'm interest in your part exchange as its going to be a whole lot different and anything outside of the warranty may come as a financial shock should you not have completed your research before hand.
Also please consider the cost of fuel as published mpg figures do not reflect what actually gets consumed! Another thing and I may be corrected on this is you will be in the 400+ tax bracket so quite a jump.
Let's wait to see others opinions!
Barr all of that you'll love it

x

Thanks for the reply
I am actually a mechanic but would still prefer the approved used warranty. Any other repairs outside of warranty I can do myself if possible plus my father in law is a parts manager so can get me cheap parts when required .
Also the MPG doesnt bother me much as it wont be used for long journeys, mainly for my wife to drive. When I eventually decide to come home for good from this hellhole I will buy a cheap run about for getting to work.
So you would recommend the approved used car route then? It makes me feel more comfortable knowing that it "should" have been checked properly etc.

Welcome!
I bought my X5 from a BMW dealer with a warranty a few years ago ( over in the province although I live in London) and it certainly gives piece of mind. It's worth around £1,500 to get that level of cover - and that's what they'll probably ask for renewal after the first year.
For pricing, Glass's guide has an online tool where you can type in all the info on the car (inc options) and it will give you all the relevant prices. Well worth the £3.50 it costs.
Good luck and safe rest of tour - keep saving that Op allowance!

Thanks,
Yes it definetly is piece of mind. A lot of the added options dont appeal to me like heated seats, I hate them lol. Thats why Im not bothered about this ones lack of options. Plus Im going to get a Hualingan for it too so no need for comms pack etc. I seen another I liked with more options but its 1k dearer and in Hull so too far for me.
Im actually not in the forces, I work with a civilian company out here. I wouldnt come near this country for the money they get paid lol. I have nothing but respect for the troops, for the conditions they are in and the pittance they get paid.
