hi going to do a oil/filter change ,but where is the oil filter located 55plate 3.0 diesel manual

Should be RHS of the engine towards the front.  Large black plastic dome with the nut shape moulded into the top.  You do need the right sized socket to undo it.  Cartridge filter inside.

Just aft and to the left of the PAS reservoir in this piccie (engine covers removed), or RHS opposite No1 air intake branch if you prefer....
