Hi everyone,
The tyres on my x5 will need replacing either at the end of the year or early next year. I have been looking at either toyo proxes st or the vredestein ultrac sessenta suv.
One problem I have had is I can seem to find anywhere that lists the toyo in a 255 50 19 for the fronts. Can anyone suggest anywhere that stocks them, camskill and the like dont list them

.
Does anyone have experience of the vredestein? I have used the none suv version on friends M3's and M5's and was extremely impressed so thought i would look inot them for my X

I ran on the Vredestein's on my 4.6is and they were excellent. Very good grip in both wet and dry and they seemed to wear well. They were on 20" wheels. Had a nice pattern as well

I had a feeling people would like the vred's as all I here about the non suv version is good comments. I am thinking i will go with the vreds unless i can fins a set of toyo's for a very good price.

I also bought their winter tyres, Wintrac Extremes, They were brilliant in the snow. when I refit them in November I may leave them on all year round.
I have read the reviews and they say they are good for all year round., as we dont get too much hot weather here up North !!!
I got mine on line from TYREMEN. £170 rears and 160 fronts on 19" check out their site
Just looked,summer tyres : £195 285 - 40 - 19
£184 255 - 50 - 19

I bought the wintracs 3 years ago and was so impressed I went for sessanta SUV when the summers needed replacing. I find them excellent and a bit softer in ride terms than the Michelin Diamaris that were on before.
I have proxes on my Z1 which have also been good.

Are you telling the X5 has different size front and rear tyres...?

Most versions use a 'staggered' set up with wider rear tyres, so different sizes of rim widths and tyres. The rims are the same diameter and have the same 'rolling diameter' for both as the tyre profile changes to cope.
Only the 'base models' may have the same size front and rear - such as the 17" equipped E53. As soon as you go to anything like a Sport Trim then that brings 19" - 21" staggered rims and tyres.. All X's being 4x4 with the prime drive to the rear but it can shift to either end, and some models from side to side (rear only) near instantaneously.
The E70 X5 version and certainly the E71 X6 are all staggered. And neither come with a spare wheel. The E53 X5 with 19" rims (standard on the Sport) comes with a 17" spare - hence having the 80kph/50mph speed limit.

Ah right, thank you! Learn something new every day. Makes tyre rotation impossible...
What are the standard tyre sizes for 19" rims?

Standard size for 19" is 255 50 19 front and 285 45 19 rear. and tyre rotation now theres a blast from the past. Not been able to do that for the past 10years having driven various bmw sport models all with staggered wheels

Vreds all the way for me. I have wintracs pn the winters (18") and sessantas on the 20" summers for my 4.8. Still got the winters on though as no chance to change yet. No undue wear on them either. Tyremen are good vred suppliers and have stock when others don"t. Vreds rock!
