Newbie and saying Hi to everybody...

Have been looking  around for an E53 2006 with good spec and have read some buyer's guide....

As for the service history, how would i know if the car had its "inspection 2" done? is it something clearly mentioned in the service book?

The service book has a tick list for each service done to show which one was done. If has BMW SH then you can ring BMW and double check the history.

As Imy says, check the book and then with the dealer. Mileage around the 50+ will indicate the next one will be Insp 2 also.

As said book should have ticks and stamps confirming.

I contacted a few dealers when buying mine until I found a friendly one who emailed me a screen dump noting dates, mileages and dealers visited.

DougieV8, good to know about your experience.... I was interested in a car at a BMW dealer, and asked about the service history of the car but the salesman said he has to"personally" phone each of the previous dealers where the car service was conducted. I thought he could have easily got this data with a press of a button. You mind me asking which dealer was helpful?

He is giving you a half truth - he could easy access history of visits by dealer, date and mileage. It will not be specific though as to what is done, a call is therefore required to each dealer for specifics.

I got the list and followed up calling myself - some more helpfull than others!!
