Hi all
I have my angel eyes and dipped beam 55w hids coded in as DRL's ( USA 1, on the DRL settings on my scanner ) but have also coded the front turn signals, as sidelights as well. They obviosly flash as well when I turn the indicator on.
Is this legal in the UK, having orange sidelights on the front ?

HI All
I have answered my own question. My mate picked us up to go for night out with them, he has an 2007 E61
5 series, it has orange eyebrow lights, so I think mine will be fine.
I will alter them before the next MOT though, but thats not until next October.

Yellow front position lights are a very definite MOT failure under Section 1.1e. Requirement from the 2012 book states...
Two front position lamps must be fitted, one on each side and show a steady white light to the front (or yellow if incorporated in a yellow headlamp)..
Reason for rejection: shows a light other than red to the rear and white to the front (or yellow if a front position lamp is incorporated in a yellow headlamp)
A simple 'switch' of coding at your pre-MOT walk around/check will soon sort that for the purpose of the test though......and the chances of getting directed to change them by local plod is at best remote I would think.

Actually being on a US base and seeing all the american spec cars around me which all of them have yellow position lights in the front bever failed an mot. You need to have a white position lamp which is supplied by a led strip being put in the frot of the car and you are able keep yellow light. That is how US spec cars pass mot here. I used to have chrysler pacifica which i brought from states and it had a yellow positioning light in the front corners which was a set if 501s and also had a set of if i can remeber it right i think they were 3157 in amber colour for signal and positioning lamp as well. All i had to do was chsnge the corner 501s to white ones and kept the amber inner lights. No issues. The car went to germany with the new owner and all they had to do was swapping the location of the rear fog light from right side to left side to pass TUV in germany.

Thanks guys, as I have the white angel eyes and dipped beam on at the same time, I hope it wont get me in lumber, but I will recode before MOT time to be sure.
Cheers
