Hi

After some points of view.

The Mrs is having issues getting in and out of the beast and I have been looking for a solution..
Obviously side steps are in order but has anyone any info, experience, recommendations for a set that will actually take a persons weight and are easy & safe to fit??
(easy being in a relative context as i am sure you know me by now!!!)

Poss something along the lines of this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-X5-SIDE-BARS-SIDE-STEPS-RUNNING-BOARDS-SPORTS-BARS-/280217179091?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Plat_Gen%3AE53&hash=item413e3ed3d3

Any views????

Cheers

I find the oem steps quite useless, your foot is almost in the car when it's on the step, thoe ebay ones look more usefull as they're lower to the ground

This is a classic case of form over function with the oem ones.  Look good but in practice aren't much cop.

Looking at the link, these will be easy to fit and look sturdy enough but they do seem to detract from the X5s elegant lines. (Just my point of view)

If they're useless then do you want to swap em for my non step trim...won't cost you a penny ;)

Tbh the kids find the OE side steps very useful. Can't see the issue with them.

I'm six foot and feel has if I have to stretch to clear the steeps.  That said, I always had them fitted as I felt they really suited the car.

I know what you mean.

I am half thinking of knocking a pair out and getting them black powder coated
That way they don't visually stick out and should do the necessary..
