How much do you guys think it would cost to have all the gloss black exterior trims on the doors resprayed? Mine are tarnished quite badly and let the car down a bit. I wrapped all my interior trims, think it maybe and option on these?

Contact a local detailer. They can polish them up to mirror finish.

Really? I have been searching loads and never heard that?

Have a look at the website for PW Pro. They are based up the road and are amazing with paint and also the gloss work.

If they are really bad why not try sensible diy attempt 1st.....

I'd wash with hot water with strong mix of fairly liquid, ( yes I know what purists say but fine if you polish/seal after), using non abrasive MF cloth then rinse thoroughly, dry & inspect. You should see some tarnish removal with that if not then try a polish with some cut such as Autoglym SRP, again with elbow grease - if that doesnt work I would try autosol. You may have to follow up with SRP again as the cut of the autosol may dull the finish a little.

All above assuming you dont have aces to a decent machine polisher. A clay bar might help also if you have such a thing.

As with any correction don't go in guns blazing, use care & be prepared for spending some time, Don't do what some do when frustrated & go in with a scourer pad or other inappropriate abrasive product.

Mine were dull grimy when car 1st bought as were the running boards.


 

when i bought my x5 the gloss trims had a lot of water marks on them. When i detailed the car I did the same on them. Washed, dryed and clayed them. then I polished with menzerna 203s using a lake country hand polish pad. I then protected them with a jeffs werkstat acrylic kit. 5 months later they still look really good.

Get a microfibre and put a little Autoglym Car Glass Polish on it and rub the gloss trim with it. You'll be surprised how well they come up...

It's the only stuff I use on my glass too.

It will work - most polishes will tbh. Just a bit of dry weather and elbow grease. Will come up perfect (for minimal outlay)!

Wonder wheels and a green sponge with some elbow grease did the trick for me, before I gloss blacked them...
