Check Brake Linings

Guys, started getting the message "check brake linings" and believe it relates to a worn brake sensor. I changed my front pads\discs in the summer and know the rear ones need doing, so guess this is why the message has appeared.
I know I will need discs, pads and i guess a new sensor, but will i need anything for the handbreak, such as shoes, cable?

the only way to know if you really need brake shoes for E-brake is to take the disc off to see it. but if you are already changing the pads and discs in the rear, i personally would pay extra £20-£30 to get the shoes and replace them as well. this way you don't have to worry about it going low anytime soon.

Agreed, and the hand brake generally is an MOT failure item as they are so infrequently used on an X5.

Agree. does make sense to do it all at the same time.
