Right guys the X5 does need a new battery but removing the gas tank from the spare wheel well is not straight forward.  My mechanic mate does not want to go messing with various pipes/connection incase he does more damage than good as he is not too familar with LPG.

Anyone know someone in Sunderland/Newcastle area who could whip out the tank and pop the new battery in for a small fee?

Here are the connections on my tank.....

The valve with the red arrow is the feed to the engine. It is quite safe to disconnect the line as I have done here if the ignition is off as it is only open when powered. The other one arrowed yellow is the fill, this needs to be left connected. If the installer did a good job there should be enough slack on this pipe to pull through and sit the tank on the tailgate. Ive done this a couple of times now. drain the tank first by running untill its empty to make it lighter. When putting it back, put in a minimum amount of gas and then use leak detection fluid on the joints.
