VIN Number

As detailed earlier I had the misfortune to buy a stolen / cloned car.

I have now purchased it back from the Insurance Company and have to restore it to it's original VIN.

It is a 55 plate E53  - could someone tell me what size (approx) the VIN stamping is on the top of the offside suspension strut .

On my son's 530D the characters are approx 10mm  high and on a friends X3 they are approx 10mm but on my cloned car they are approx 15mm.

Is this standard for the X5 ?

Or have the thieves used larger stamps to obliterate the original VIN ?

How big is yours ?  :-[

Could someone please confirm that the VIN number is actually stamped on the top of the suspension strut on the driver's side inner wing ?

I was talking to the police car crime squad again today and he said they could usually find some part of the previous VIN where it had been stamped by applying an etch solution to the wing . This couldn't be found on my car. I was just wondering whether that is where the VIN is situated ?

So far I have one under the passenger windscreen at the bottom, one on the VIN plate on the offside inner wing , one under the rear  number plate but need the location of the actual stamped one on the car body.
Also the OBC (Onboard Computer) has it and the Bluetooth identifier is the last 5 digits of the VIN

My car is a 55 plate E53
