Tyres / Tracking / Balancing - And the rest

Hi all. What a week. Took the X5 in for tracking and balance of the front tyres.  Te wife moaned of a slight wobble.  Turned out the tracking was all over the place including camber. Oh and a tyre had a weight missing.

Well thought that's all sorted and off I went.  Anyway a wk later drove the X to find severe shake at 35 - 45 mph.  Took it back today to be told nothing wrong and that the front tyres are out of shape. Really? After 200 miles?

Anyway been told I need two new fronts. The car currently has 3 Nankang sp5's and 1 Bridgestone.  Problem is  not sure what to replace the 2 with. Nankang or Bridgestone.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Unclear what you have on each corner but personally I would simply aim to get the car on four tyres of the same type with correct load rating, pressures, & on balanced rims that are checked for damage....... then I'd get the car tracked.

Not used Nankangs or Bridgestones myself so cant comment.

Don't dismiss decent part worns........ignore the snobs. Nearly all used cars come with part worn tyres and few put brand new rubber on a a car as soon as they buy it. That said if considering this route buy carefully & ideally from repuatble source(s).

Oh and you need to get a new wiper motor unless skilled enough to strip and repair it........but you knew that ;)

Thanks AW8. The Nankangs are on the front and the mix is on the rear.

Just taken it elsewhere and could see the tyre bob up and down so new tyres it is.

I have looked into part worns. I have been offered some Bridgestone with 7&8mm of tread for £200 fitted on new Nankangs for £200.

Decisions decisions.

As for the rear wiper I'm useless so looks like a new motor from the stealers. I have a warranty direct policy so will start there.

:camera:You can run different tyres/treads front to rear so across each axle they are the same and there generally isn't any issues with this. I'd personally never run different tyres across the same axle as you are currently as usually this will cause less stability and varying grip across the axle.

Cheers Raj. I'm trying to source a matching rear tyre.

Update guys

Turns out it was the nearside calliper sticking. Dropped it off at my Indy and he replaced it.

On top of that all got approved on my Warranty Direct Policy!!!!

I only have to pay 40% of the part!
