Webasto & blue smoke on starting (cold)

I've noticed on the past 2 mornings that starting the car from cold (& it's been near freezing) there is blue smoke & a slight rough idle. After about 15 seconds it settles down & all is ok. I've also noticed that: unlocking the car - Webasto starts up, locking the car (even when already locked) - Webasto starts up, looking at the car in a funny way - Webasto starts up. Ok ignore the last one! Is the Webasto supposed to behave in this
Way? & is the smoke & the constant stop start of the Webasto related?
As I've only had the car barely 4 days & I've been in & out of it fixing niggly things the Webasto has been constantly stop starting with only the odd starting of the engine.
I certainly never noticed the blue smoke before I starting carrying out all these minor repairs & it doesn't seem to smoke on running.

Can't help on the Webby but my 04 would always spit a little blue on start up when it was cold. A few seconds and it clears and then nothing till the next cold start. Once the weather warms up you won't get it.
Nothing to worry about as it's a little excess diesel buring off.
My 06, with in essence the same engine, doesn't do it at all. Go figure.

It would be of great. Assistance if members put what variant of X5 they have on their signature at the bottom. Then when asking certain questions we know if its a pre or facelift, what engine is it, V8 or 3.0 petrol or Diesel.
If its a diesel, mine does it because I can't be arsed waiting for it to preheat, and the engine management system over fuels the car to assist in starting
The webasco will run when the temperature is below 5 degrees C, feel the exhaust temperature that is coming out of the little exhaust under the passenger door, if its hot ,no probs, if cold then like mine it's faulty.
I'm guess its the diesel you have as you have the webasco, but some petrols have them too, however very rare.

yeah webo is X5 30d's way of whining u must have noticed the noise by now when u get near it .. lol
no out of jokes the stop/start behavior sounds wrong for the webo, although i've heard this before as well from others. it should only start as horizon says.. below 5c, when you start the car..
of course some of us have enabled it to pre-heat the cabin with a remote but that's a different story..

Apologies 'Horizon' for the lack of vehicle info ( didn't give it a thought :-[)
I have been reading on the 'problems' page which I read with interest. Apparently it's quite a common fault so that's another 'must do' added to my list!
There is one positive to come from all these niggly issues.....you learn more & more about the X5 & it's nice to come across something that you didn't realise the car has.
