DDE (DME) & EGS modules not found with Scanner 1.4.0 - Do I need to bridge?

Everything working with my scanner apart from unable to connect to either the DDE or EGS modules (first two on the list).  >:(

I have read elsewhere that bridging connection 1&2 and 7&8 on the scanner solves this issue.

Has anyon else had this problem and used this solution?

A lot of scanners apparently already come with these connections pre-bridged (mine didn't) so if anyone with a perfectly working scanner wouldn't mind popping the back of the case to check I would be eternally grateful!  ;)

Mine worked out of the box so I've never bothered looking before. I've just opened mine up and none of the pins have been jumped. On the SW CD that came with it there was a photo showing pins 7 + 8 with a jump wire, maybe newer ones don't need it? Mine has the USB cable hard wired to the OBD plug, where as most photos I've seen have a separate USB cable.

Thanks LincsX5, much appreciated.

I've got the Electric rears and they are good... but I wouldn't tick the box if I was buying the car new. I hardly use them and to be honest, being able to move them for loading things in the boot has never really come into it - I just flip the seats down.

I also have the heated rears -  now them I would pay for. Very nice for the passengers.

Rear Air-Con - is a noisy horrible addition that I nearly always have switched off. Wouldn't pay for that either.

Turks.

My scanner is not finding the first two sections either (DME EGS)

So I am hoping this thread may help me BUT what is 'Bridging', how does it come apart ?

Does anyone have an idiots description of what is happening here  ;)

Sorry to thread bump - but although I can detect DDE - I can't access live data. Should I be able to?

Can anyone on here confirm they can access live data from DDE?

Pa soft program has Customize/Personalize function, these functions may hidden in Customize menu list.

I found this one: http://frank9696.mywapblog.com/what-bmw ... -bmw.xhtml
