Poor radio reception

Having just installed an aftermarket media system I now find that my FM radio signal is very poor. I have used an aerial adaptor which also has a single blue cable which just says ANT on it. When I touch the connector on the end the signal improves. Any ideas? The original signal was spot on.

The wire that has ANT on it is used to power the aerial amplifier, which is why you are getting the improvement in reception.  Your aftermarket stereo should have an output you can connect it to to power up the amp when the radio is on. It may well be marked ANT as well, it's a while since I've touched  one.

I tried that and it didnt make any difference. Which is why I'm puzzled. Is the aerial amp protected by a fuse which may have blown?

Not sure about a fuse and I'm away at the moment so can't check the wiring schematic. I don't find the FM reception to be that great on mine, I've got the standard nav fit. If no one else chirps in I'll have a look tomorrow when I'm home.

Looking at the schematic the Ant Amp gets its power from fuse 86 in the boot, it also feeds the Webasto rx in the boot if you have one.
