Breathalyzers Are Not Required For Driving In France

Post by Chompers » Wed Mar 06, 2013 1:06 pm

Just read this on my local forum in France. The politians have decided not continue with this silly law and it may also be that Radar signs taken down in recent months are replaced.

Info may be of help as I know some of you do travel across the channel.

Bon Chance  :)

Nice to see they made a sensible decision for once.

Very unlike the French!!! ::) The scheme was never going to work, it was just away to keep a few Euro's rolling into the state coffers, oh and keep the company in business that made most of the breathalyzers as it was just about to go bust  >:D

It may be worthwhile keeping them in the glovebox though - a fiver potentially wasted at Halfords may be better than dealing with the police while the law is technically still in force.  There's a difference between repealed legislation and laws not routinely enforced and unless your French is very good, that may be a subtlety avoided by simply having the things.

Just my opinion....

A fair point, but I am yet to hear of any UK drivers being stopped and fined for not having them. The law was only supposed to be enforced from late last year, Novemberish from memory up until then a warning was to be given.

Clearly if you have the kits already, then there is no harm done by keeping them in the car  ;)

That rules out an over night bag then  :)) glad to see you back in the rocket. Not thought about getting a tow bar on that new family wagon of yours and towing the Exige, could have shot in both around that fab circuit  >:D

Thought that was the case, see you can get 1 on the RS6. I'm sure I could be free in 2 weeks to drive either to Spa for you if you wish  :drive:

They are big bucks!! But would be fun. What sort of power is yours putting out now, must be one of the most sorted ones on the road? enjoy the trip and hope other drivers don't f@¥# up by crashing and closing the circuit. A real problem I hear at Spa

Getting cheaper and the limit of the power is the upgrade.

I'm c280 now because of box. 3rd is very weak.

I've been lucky at spa. Ring is worse.
