Hi guys,
New to the forum and looking for some ideas. I have a 2003 3.0 x5 and when I switch ignition on the interior ventilation comes on even if I switch it off and turn off ignition and turn ignition on again, is this normal?.
Thanks for help
Sai

Hi and welcome to the forum. Sounds like the FSR ( final stage resister has gone ) this is a common problem. It can be a DIY fix, but its tricky to get to. They are best sourced through your local dealer. There are a few threads that cover the installation. Beware it will drain your battery overnight.
I'm sure someone will post a link for you, as well as ask for some photos of your new X.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply, is there a way of checking the FSR before replacing it?
Don't worry pics of my X coming soon.

Yes I know it's for an E46, but the symptoms are the same, obviously photos and instructions are slightly different.
But to give you an idea of how tricky they are to do.
I think the part is around £40/50, but may be wrong
