Has anyone heard of the adaptive transmission reset which can be done? Seen a couple of posts but unsure if it can be done on the E53.

One post suggests turning the ignition key to position two and then pushing the gas pedal all the way down for 30 seconds. The other is to turn the ignition to position two for 10 seconds, turn off then crank the engine.

This could be a load of rubbish.

The former is indeed supposed to reset the adaptive learning on the gearbox.  Don't expect anything dramatic though.
