Just taken the X5 back to the car dealer.  diagnosed a MAF.    Hes come up with £250-300 for the MAF meter, but i can get the patern part for £31.  Anyone had one of these cheap sensors  and do they last.
Thanks

Hi mate

Dont be tempted by a cheap copy part they are useless i have been caught out with one.

Go for a BOSH unit from Euro carparts or GSF have fitted a few of these and never had a problem.

Remember to get the engine management fault codes cleared and the mixture adaptions reset with a scan tool after fitting the new unit.

Before fitting the MAF cearfully check the inlet bellows betwen the MAF and the throttle housing as these are very common to split on the smaller diameter pipe feeding the idle valve , I would very carefully check this before buying a maf.

have changed loads of bellows on the 3.0I petrol engine including mine.

Thanks
Ive ordered one anyway and if its not working i will send it back.  Will check all the inlets when i change her over.
Why a MAF is so expensive i dont know.  If you look at all the electronics in a TV, computer etc it just doesnt stack up.  Daylight robbery >:(.  Its not as if they are only on top end cars, they are on all cars now.
