Rear screen heater elements peeling off & headlight misting

Much to my annoyance the rear screen heater elements are actually peeling off the glass!!  Not seen this sort of thing happening in years, so BMW will have to replace it under warranty... >:(.

The rear screen is protected internally by a BMW supplied and fitted sunshade so nothing has been put on the glass to cause it since new.......very odd but must be a manufacturing defect on the lower two elements.

I've also noticed the headlights have condensation in them.  I know on the E53 that meant replacement under warranty, but has anyone had the same on their E71 or E70, and if so what did the Dealer do about it?

Richard,

I had condensation in one of my rear lights on my E70 and it was replaced under warranty.

Replaced the ones on my 535 but they do have breather holes in them so it is not unusual to have a bit

Just had a new rear screen fitted and the bonnet release catch 'box' in the car has failed so that and the drivers door rubber seal are now also to be replaced under warranty once the parts come in from Germany.

The Dealer commented that they had just had to change another rear screen with the same problem, though not on an X6.

As 535dboy said, misting is common and vents are fitted.  No further work needed.

Had the same problem with the 840 CI with the rear screen element peeling, ended up that where the element lifted it would burn out. Good to see that BMW have not rushed into curing this problem.
Hope they have sorted the problem now so it doesn't  happen after the warranty expires.
