Always had the intention of tarting up and changing the polished lips on my new 22's as the diamond cut finish has started to deteriorate so had planned on painting the lip the same colour as the car, I was going to run them on the car for a couple of weeks but that didn't happen........

today I had a couple of hours so whipped the drivers side wheels off and set to it.

Now I had planned on filling all the curbing (which is all the way round all the rims) but my wife said she wont drive it once Ive redone the rims as she will be to afraid to curb them so I told her I would instead just neaten them up and because there painted if she does or rather when she does clip a curb I can just touch them up, so she was happy with that,

I much prefer them as there less bling, all that I have left to do to this side is paint the centre of the centre cap gloss black then they will be perfect IMO then just the other 2 to do......

Is the paint tin surgically attached to your hand )

ps.....you have so many dead bugs on that front bumper that I heard David Attenborough is interested in doing a feature

pps....on the subject of preperation and thinners I spent this morning using auto glym tar remover. I fact I went mad and did the whole of both sides of the car to remove seen and unseen bits. I the followed it up with spot of claying using a sort of homemade lubricant with what I had to hand...a bit of nxt spray and some watered down tyre shine shook up. Left a abit of a mess but smooth a silk. Finished with skim of AGSRP as a stop gap polish

The real point is would auto glym tar remover suffice as plastic bumper prep for paint before a plastic primer? It was darn good at remeoving tar from them and even shfted some yellowing silicon when I did it last year.

I know there were so many bugs out yesterday out in the sticks where I live and they all seemed to aim for the front of the motor....

As for the auto Glym stuff it all depends if it leaves any sort of waxy residue behind as its will be a nightmare to paint if it does try a test patch on something (not the car) and see if you can paint over it after its been cleaned with it or even better silicon it first then clean it using the Auto Glym and then spray.

He doesn't sleep or stand still ever ! Never !!

It's always amazed me that there are any bugs left on the planet! When you look at all the bugs we clean off our cars every week multiplied by all the cars trucks buses motorbikes and trains on our roads every day??

Think I would be just buying some thinners for a couple of quid, that bug tar remover has abit of a greasy feel to it.

perhaps you're right...did well as a pre-clay treatment though but it was my car and I wouldn't recommend doing it on anyone elses. Not that it didn't work but if it went pear shaped I wouldn't sleep. The amount of tar spots...very tiny ones...under the door trims was unbelieveable. Part of it felt like a table tennis bat. It's quite satisfying wiping it on....brew in hand and watch dark brown streaks appear from nowhere.
