Would you buy your X6 again, if you had the benefit of hindsight?

Post by Mavster » Fri May 24, 2013 10:27 pm

As per title really. just wondered if you are happy with the ownership or is the car too impractical for its size?

What are your thoughts?
If you would buy it then what do you like most about it?

Would definitely have another one.  It's proving pretty good with coping with our little one as well.  Having a towbar means I can add a trailer, or even a caravan if needed.

I like the design, handling and performance of the 40d. I'm not sure I would go on to the M50d as there's just nowhere around here to use it's capabilities other than on a track.

I might add some different toys, but other than that I like it as it is - possibly with the exemption of the round tailpipes.  BMW GB were a bit on the mean side not to change them for the square type, and the retrofit kit is overpriced.

Seems to be a UK spec thing though? All the ones in Russia (millions of them on the road) have the proper square pipes.

Carbon roofs popular there as well.

Yup everyone else got square ones except the UK.

Nor sure about carbon roofs......that may be a wrap, as they aren't offered on the UK Spec even now.

Carbon mad. There was a white one in the car park which was almost half carbon.

I am back next week there so will take a few pictures.

I had an X6 40d for 22 months from new and changed it for.............

.......an X6 M50d.  So impressed was I by the handling, power and stature of the thing.  My wife has an X5 40d 7 seater for the bigger family outings but I regularly have the 8 year old twins in mine no problem.  I also have the towbar for bikes etc.  but can mostly be seen driving on my own with my golf clubs and leccy trolley in the boot :-)

Might even get the petrol X6M next (one of half a dozen or so possibles on my list).  Me likey :-)

Please don't be dull, try something else !

I would probably actually get 'well jel' if you bought an RS6. I'm sure a man of your substantial means could afford a £100k decent spec one

Easily the best car I've ever owned.  Great driving, great road presence, often referred too by my fiends as the 'Beast' or 'Tonker Toy'.  The boots anything but small and I've never had a car before to get so many unsolicited favourable comments from strangers.

Would I?  yes, if I still needed a 4x4 but at this time I can't see me even looking for a good few years I'm so taken by the X6.

84k basic so start adding toys and you get into Panamera Turbo territory. Wonder which will fare better on the used market?
