Picking up tomorrow

Sorry if this is completely boring and waste of a post, but I felt I had to post somewhere as I'm picking up my first X5 tomorrow morning, excited but also a bit apprehensive. Most I've spent on a car and it is 3 months old so I hope they've prepped it ok as there was a bit of polishing and touching up to do, it also feels like halfway across the UK to pick it up (about 1.25 hours) so hope I remember everything and that the bank don't f*** up on the debit card transaction (42k on a debit card!). Also a little sad at saying goodbye to our trusty Smax (don't laugh) as it has been with us through my two boys growing up over the last 4 or so years and has been outstanding throughout.
Got my iphone cable so I can ramp up the professional hifi on way back, hope it is as good as the logic 7 I had in 335d. Can't wait.

Very best of luck, have a good look over it, paint, wheels, lacquer, make sure interior, roof, roof lining all look ship-shape, then above all else enjoy the first drive home (it's the best)!
Anything you've missed can be picked up later, just enjoy the day!

Good luck with the pickup.
As Sanj says, just make sure you have a good look round and test all the toys even though the temptation to just jump in and drive will be huge.
Don't forget the pics either

Hi Silverous, have fun with your new car. I picked up my pretty new X5 some week ago (~12k miles) and I am very happy with it. My comment may be too late for your pickup but the following observation I made with my car:
- Tires: The front tires 275/40/20 had sawtooth, were quite unbearably loud. Agreed with dealer to share cost for 2 new tires
- Front noise: Noticed noise from front axle when coasting. Most noticeable when you drive at about 50 miles per hour and then go from acceleration to coasting. Reason wasn't found yet and is now under analysis at BMW Munich.
Might be worth while checking for these two items in specific at your pickup.

Hope all goes well.
Did you ring your bank and warn them a large transaction will be going through?

I would do this too I've had problems when I've bought both BMWs on debit card and yet no probs at Audi or Porsche.
The dealer couldn't understand why we had probs. both were over £50k and somebody suggested they may have a floor limit of that and yet others have worked ok
What you don't need is the hassle of the money not going through on the big day though
Good luck.

I think it depends upon the Bank. All ours have gone through with no issue, but a call in advance is defo a good idea.

Apologies for belated pic and fact that it is an iphone one and only one photo but you've seen an x5 before

Really pleased with it, wife even more so as it is mainly her car. Is was reg'd in May 2013 and had done around 6k miles the spec is:
X5 40d M Sport
Space Grey
Black Nappa Leather
Aluminium trim
20 M Double-spoke style 333M alloy whee
Bootlid operation. powered
Comfort seats. front
Ext. mirrors - folding. auto dimming
Exterior trim. High-gloss Shadowline
Head-up Display
High-beam Assistant
Leather interior
Loudspeaker system - BMW Professional
Lumbar support. driver and front pass.
M Sport suspension deletion
Media package
Panoramic glass sunroof
Reversing Assist camera with Top View
Seat heating. front
Speed limit display
Sun protection glass
Telephone USB audio interface
Third-row seating
So glad we got the M Sport deleted option, each to their own but I find the ride too harsh even like this. You pay for it in the twisties though as it feels like a bit of a liability if you take a roundabout or bend a bit too quick.
Loving the HUD and the Nappa leather makes it feel a bit different and perhaps more luxurious. The hifi isn't as good as some premium ones (was offered a better deal on a brand new one with individual audio but missed out on it!) but is pretty good. Loving the sunroof, first time we've had a panoramic roof (that opens - smax was prior car and it was fixed!)
Did make me chuckle....Apparently my eldest boy's (4 and a half) face lit up when he got to go in it today as he hadn't been in it for a while and he said "I love this car mummy" so at least one happy customer !

Many congratulations - great car you have there! I'm with you on the suspension - deleted the M Sport on mine too. Also stuck with the 19s which make for a more compliant ride. Don't look as nice as yours though - but just so you know there's that option if you wanted to soften it up slightly. Also regret not going for the individual HiFi - as you say the Professional is good but could be better.
Enjoy!
