Front door speakers

Thinking of replacing my front door speakers.
I have read that I need to go for 5.25" (13cm) replacements, can anyone confirm if this is correct and will I need any sort of ring adaptors or will it be a straight forward swap?

I have 6.5" components in mine and anything that size should fit as you'll have to make up an adapter plate.
I would like to get them into the original locations though - they funnel the sound out much better.

Sorry Sanj, are you saying I will need adaptors for 6.5" or 5.25" speakers?
What size are the OEM speakers?

No - bad reply on my part.
I have 6.5" in mine with an mdf adapter plate of my own. OEM are 13 cm or 5.25".

Hey Sanj, following on from our conversation yesterday I thought I'd strike while the iron is hot :help2:
Ok, so do you recommend I buy 13cm or 5.25" better quality replacements to avoid having to install an adapter plate or do I need to go with 6.5" replacements with an adapter plate so that I can improve my sound to be as good as yours (at a minimum) - yours sounded incredible!
Any make/model recommendation?

Hello!
Will respond to your PM shortly - busy day...
Can't remember the size of those but the link I send you will tell me.
Make and models all down to wallet!

I did mine front and rear and the windscreen tweeters. The speakers need to be 160mm, which is NOT 6.5 inches. I used these,(Pioneer 6" Component Speakers TS-G1605C) which came with separate tweeters which I fitted one set in windscreen enclosures. 160 mm will fit directly into the 'tubular' door mount without modification. You can re-use the speaker connection plug which is mounted on the 'tubes' by using a short length of speaker wire and a soldering iron or crimp connectors.

Where did you buy those Pioneer speakers from?
I can't seem to find them on eBay or Amazon.

Sorry for late response, I hadn't been on the forum for a number of weeks. I got the speakers from a store called Supercheap Auto here in Australia. I wouldn't imagine they would be unique to this country and would have thought available elsewhere.
