Saw this on another forum and thought I'd share with you all, i dont think it would happen in an X5 as the lockdriveaway requires a certain speed to activate, but hey ho something to think about

I'm sure this won't be the last time we hear this story!!! There is an App available from BMW that allows you to remotely lock and unlock your e70 + other iDrive equipped cars

via your iPhone works very well and would solve this issue.

You must be a complete idiot though to get out of your car with the car in gear or even the engine running if you want to use a spade to dig the car out.

Thats the one

very handy indeed. Already been used once on my e61 when my son thought it would be funny to lock all the doors just after me shutting the tailgate

However I had the last laugh using this App

we have had 2 customers that have had cliford alarms fitted with remote start pull up and say ' look what ive had done'
then pressing the buttons on the remote to auto start there cars but left then in gear
i think neil was the best in his black M3 convertable, his face as the car started up and drove off down the road
lucky he had the down as he run after the car jumped on the boot, dived over the drives seat and hit the brakes with his hands
he has now done this twice lol
if only i have a vid off it
