Thanks for your reply, kind of thought that but always better to ask. Has anybody used the above suppiers that are on this thread that might have a part number for the switch and who they phoned to get it.

Thanks.

I've used Radio Spares (RS) for electronic/electrical bits for various purposes over the years - always found them OK - they would be my starting point

Hi Gurbinder

Your problem sounds similar to mine which I believe is related to worn cogs in the motor assembly.

Does anyone know whether these cogs or the motor can be sourced separately?

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Michael.

Decided to look at mine today - found it easier to pull covers off applying pressure around edges & not just to side.

Metal cam/spring on rear of the Burgess microswitch was completely off & nearly swallowed into near the nylon hinge pivot on offside

Used tweezers to remove it. I had to try to reform it using heat via gas hob so as less brittle.....then refitted to the switch being careful not to shear tiny plastic tabs.

I saw on xoutpost someone worked out which part these were- hence my "Burgess" reference. The switches on car have wires going right into same so if sourced these would probably need to be fitted by cutting wires, soldering &/or or using watertight connection blocks

I couldn't take pics due to lack of readily available charged equipment - Sorry.

HTH someone. Thanks to Sanj for this original How- To

Yes - working :)

Have emailed various u.k. stockists of Burgess switches to see if they will sell to me direct.......so I & or other members can source& keep spares.

Not hopeful of a positive reply but it would be good to find a stockist for these switches........Will update here if I can find a helpful supplier.

I am having difficulty in removing the cover. Is there only one clip on the side? Which way should I push the cover?

I've looked at the same site before, but that was as far as I got. My ns mirror is a bit loose and will move back a bit when I have towing mirrors on. I will be very interested in seeing how you get on. Sounds like an excellent opportunity for a How-To

Is wear in the switch likely to cause the mirror to power all the way in until it actually hits the door, or is there an adjustment for that. My mirrors work, but the passenger site either needs adjustment or repair I assume. (At the moment, the solution is not to use them. But they are handy when trying parking on the street.)

When I try to fold my mirrors, the drivers one folds in and immediately out again, the passenger side just makes an awful noise and doesn't actually move. I noticed when cleaning the car the passenger side moves slightly, feels a little loose. Could both problems be switch related?
