Extended Lcd Display

Hi All,
I have ordered a 3.0d msport

, the X5 I took out on a test drive had a small lcd display in the middle of the speedo and rev counter. I have noticed other X5's have a large rectangular screen incorporating both the speedo and rev counter.
Can any one tell me how you get this? My dealer has emailed BMW but has not had an answer, my car gets built week 28 so I can still make changes. The X5 I test drove was a pre April car, I read a post on here stating they changed some specs for cars built after April, is the extended Lcd now standard?
Thanks

Thanks for the link, It looks like you have opt for HUD to get the extended display. I did note that this link is quite old, I was hoping the display would be upgraded with post April changes, I wish BMW would get back to my dealer with an answer.

I have just had my X5 delivered (two weeks ago) and have the extended LCD display. I have HUD and speed limit display options since I was told that this is one sure way to get the extended display on a post April build.
The HUD is great and well worth the extra particularly if you get your car 'coded' to add the extra HUD 'features!' and the speed limit info is good too (its info is displayed in the HUD)

I've coded mine to show the indicator repeaters (I have my steering wheel quite low and it's useful to have the green flashing repeaters shown in the HUD) and the lane departure warning display / ACC distance.
