Headlight beam angle adjustment,"Euro driving"

Post by Nine468 » Fri May 23, 2014 11:43 am

Hi.
Is there any means of altering the headlight beam for driving on european roads.?
Something that can be returned back to UK settings when i get back home, easily...
Other than sticking on the "beam bender" type things...

Think there's a switcth by the lights themselves. But an E70 should be able to confirm.

I have that switch on my 535d Xenons which flattens the beam pattern off on the top left corners but not on the X70 that I can see. I have adaptive Xenons on the E70 and notice the beam pattern is flat already. Perhaps the X70 lights are the same for LHD and RHD?

There is a lever which the manual tells you will switch the headlamps for Euro driving but believe me its buried deep inside the headlight and you will need long thin rubbery arms and fingers to operate it.

It doesn't look like the the rather stylised picture in the manual either - its more like a metal lever. to be honest I think you will need a special tool or German training to operate it.

I would recommend a few strips of black electricians tape over part of the headlamp whilst overseas - its the thought that counts as many drivers don't seem to bother
