Speaker problem, only 1 working

I have a problem in my X5 with the audio. I only have sound coming from the drivers side speaker under the windscreen. I have the satnav headunit, and speakers in front and rear doors with single tweeters in front doors and also the speakers under the windscreen. Had a look around the forum but cant seem to find what Im looking for. Could anyone advise what may be wrong here, could it be an amp problem, or maybe speakers all gone at the same time? Im hoping its a simple enouhg fix. Any help appreciated.

Sounds like the RCM unit or BM54 - what year is the car?

My drivers side front and back speakers used to crackle and cut out all the time but when I removed my sat nav ( it kept draining my battery) the problem went away and the stereo sounded better! Could that be it?

I already have it booked in to have all speakers uprated tomorrow, if this doesn't cure the problem which I now doubt it will, they will remove the bm54 and send it for repair. Found a company offering 24h turnaround for £99 on eBay. Will let you know how I get on.

There's a contact made reference to on this forum that can upgrade the BM54 and add A2DP. Those that have had the amp upgrade say they can tell the difference straight away (£125 I think).

Hi Jamie,
I bought my 55 plate X5 at the weekend and have the exact same problem, with only the right speaker near the windscreen working, believe it or not !
I've spent ages tonight just getting to the BM54 amp in the boot (thats how I know its a BM54).
I have just noticed these re[air services on eBay. I think this would make sense rather than just getting a replacement amp with probable issues again.
Sanj,
I'm also keen to know who can repair and upgrade for that price - I found one on eBay that does it for £150... just seems a bit much to me.
Wish I knew someone local who could do the upgrade rather than sending it off.

As suspected the BM54 unit in mies was faulty. It has now been sent away for repair and should hopefully be back tomorrow or Saturday. That paired with my speaker upgrade I should have some fairly decent sounds in it. As a bonus I had an inner carrier for the outer drivers door handle ordered waiting to be fitted and they also fitted that for me while the doorcard was off to install the speakers.

Gents,
Do a serach for the 'RCM Baris' and you'll get load of people who've used him on here. Plus one of them should have an email address for him.

Thanks Sanj, I contacted Baris and got my unit sent down to him for repair. Went for the stage 1 upgrade which also repairs dead channels and I had 2 RCA outputs on at the same time, 1 day turnaround and all is working fine.
