Re: Bought this one today!!

You can get the chassis number from the BMW warranty site. In fact, you can put any make of cars reg plate in and it will give you the chassis number. You then put the chassis number in to the BMW VIN decoder and, as if by magic, you get the full spec. https://www.bmw-warranty.co.uk/Login/Index http...

Re: Bought this one today!!

The colour, according to the factory build sheet. is STERLINGGRAU METALLIC (472) Nicely spec'd car and yes, it does play CD's. Unless someone's removed it, you should find a 6 CD changer, behind the left side panel in the boot. The changer was there when it left the factory so let's hope it's still ...

Re: Run Flat tyre puncture repair scandal.

How close are you to Tenterden. If so, there is a place that will repair it if it's not damaged. You won't know if it's damaged until you take to tyre off the rim. At that point you'll maybe be able to see lots of little black rubber balls. If you drive on run-flats the sidewall starts to de-laminat...

Re: changing faulty monitor

No coding. It's "dumb" so just plug & play. You can use monitors from other BMW cars of the period except the e46 which is a slightly different design. My understanding is it will fit but won't look right. They are also rarer so more expensive. I've heard that screens from left hand dr...

Re: Merry Christmas

And a merry Christmas from your resident Range Rover Driver; and it's only cost me a new front suspension airbag and a supercharger coolant pump in the 1st 16 months of ownership. That's about £650 so much cheaper than around £3k I'd have spent on a warranty.

Long may it continue.

Re: BMW Individual X5 wheels 20"

Well, you did put open to offers. Put a price on and then you'll soon know if you're in the ball park.

By the way. I'll raise the £30 and add two packs of Quavers.

There's a few here http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw= ... 3&_sacat=0 for as cheap as £130. The only screen that you can't use is the e46.

Re: Taking the leap!! X5 4.6is or 4.8is?

[quote="gavp84"] [quote="Nat"] Hi, My honest advice is NO don't do it. I had a 4.8iS that i ran for just over 3 years. In that time it had £25k worth of work. The list of issues was endless. When it works its a great car, but the problem is that's not very often. From memory ( as...

Re: Talk me out of an E39, mates?

Absolutely fantastic cars. I had a 540 Touring, just prior to my first X5; a 4.6.

If you can live with LHD, then I believe the M5 was available in Touring form in Germany. Lot's of space and high performance would be a great combination.

Oh, and Richard doesn't mean it.

I used this sort of stuff on a minor leak on our Smart. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PROFESSIONAL-R134a-CAR-AIR-CONDITIONING-STOP-LEAK-SHIELD-SEALER-SEALANT-53615-A-/400288086540?hash=item5d33077a0c:g:uh4AAOSwRoxXm2J3 From gassing to empty would take about 6 months. 20 months after using the sealant, i...
